So, our parents may have chosen the name Jay for us because they liked it, or you may have acquired it because your friends were too lazy to call you Jason or James, but what does it mean?
Come to think of it, what does Neill mean as well?
JAY - incredibly boringly this means 'bird in the crow family'. Nothing heroic there at all. We are named after a bird - a pretty one I'll grant you, but a bird nonetheless. But what if your given name is Jason or James....
JASON - means healer. That's much more exciting than 'bird in the crow family'.
JAMES - means supplanter. Now we're talking. Supplanter conjures up images of medieval sieges and invading hordes.
NEILL / NEIL - means champion. Now there's a name to be proud of...it's Irish I guess, or Celtic or something.
